  2. Hey, trying to figure out other ways to help – any suggestions besides sharing and donating? Also, is there going to be any connection between this fund and the ACLU for the recognition of a big name with this atrocity, as well as the acknowledgment that a non-profit is working here too?

  4. There’s no Paypal icon to click. Please correct; I want to donate.

  5. Look, as much as I deplore police brutality, we’re not going to get past the dehumanization of people until we ALL stop doing it. People, regardless of color, are people. People, regardless of their jobs and attitudes, are people. People, regardless of past or current criminal acts, are people. People may be sick, mean or twisted. But they are people, with human rights. Some people should be hospitalized, some prosecuted, some jailed. But all of them–all of US–have human rights. Even criminals who are flouting the law, and high on drugs. Even cops who are ignorant of the law, and high on their own sense of power.

It’s OK to hate some people. Heck, it’s probably inevitable. It’s OK to rage at what people do. But it is not OK to make people into “not people,” mentally, and then treat them that way.

  7. You might be interested at taking a look at integrating Stripe. It should be pretty easy to do, is not Paypal, and also lets you accept currency from all around the world. https://stripe.com/checkout

  8. Hi, I really want to help you guys out, but unfortunately the form won’t take donations from outside the US. Is there another way to donate?

  9. It’s honestly scary how ignorant a lot of people still are about the situation. An unrelated party starts looting in one instance, and one rioter throws a bottle at the police who were teargassing innocent protesters – and suddenly, it’s all about ‘animals getting arrested for looting’ and ‘shooting at cops’. Last I heard the mainstream news was mysteriously mum about this, though the fact that the cops aren’t allowing news stations into the area may have something to do about it.

This started when a white cop shot an unarmed black teenager who had done nothing wrong, which isn’t new, but it was a final breaking point. Regardless of the mainstream news, anyone paying attention to social media can see the pictures and livestreams of kids getting gassed, rubber bullets being fired into the neighbourhoods, reporters getting arrested. They gassed their own state senator when she was peacefully protesting. Veterans are tweeting in response to pictures of the forces being sent to put down the riot and remarking they’re more heavily geared than the vets were when they invaded Iraq.

But yeah, we’ve still got people in the comments screeching out ‘they’re thieves and looters!’. Even if it’s honest ignorance, we’ve got a word for people who instinctively believe this is all about a criminal mob of black people and desperately hold on to that despite overwhelming first-hand evidence to the contrary, and yeah, that word is racism.

  10. it’s a sad day when you feel more scared than protected when you see a cop on the street. the ferguson police department are scum, as is anyone who stands behind them.

  11. I can’t believe this is still happening in the world why can’t we ever change?

  12. To the naysayers: have you even seen the videos of what’s going on? People are being gassed, shot at, and arrested just because they won’t stay quiet about police brutality and media-silencing. They don’t even have guns – so UW is clearly a liar and probably one of these cops. Fuck racists, and fuck the (American) police.

  13. To the people below, the donations are for people arrested during “the anti-police demonstrations”. You can use your $$ to get some reading and comprehension lessons. We could all benefit from a more educated public.

  14. Things need to change

  15. If anyone has any info on what else those of us outside MO can do to help, please let me know.
